What to Expect in Your Intro Call…….
A free, no-obligation call to help you decide if counselling with ATC is right for you.
Taking that first step can feel a bit daunting — even if it's just a phone or video call. You might be wondering what you’re supposed to say, how formal it will be, or whether it’s going to feel awkward.
This post is here to take the guesswork out of it.
First off — it’s not a test
This isn’t an assessment, an interview, or a counselling session. It’s a relaxed, no-pressure chat to help you get a feel for how we work and whether this space feels like a good fit for you.
There’s no obligation to book anything after it. You’re welcome to take time to think, ask questions, or decide later. No hard sell — ever.
What we might talk about
Every intro call is a bit different, because every person is. But usually, we’ll touch on:
What’s bringing you to counselling (as much or as little as you want to share)
What kind of support you're looking for
How sessions work (timing, cost, location or online setup)
Any worries or questions you have about starting therapy
You can also get a sense of who I am, how I work, and whether this feels like the kind of space you can open up in.
What if I feel nervous?
That’s completely okay — a lot of people do. You don’t have to say anything perfectly, and there’s no right or wrong way to feel. The call is just a starting point. And if it helps: I’m not here to analyse you. I’m here to get to know you.
If you want a video call or prefer a phone call - thats fine too whichever you are comfortable with.
Why We Offer It
We believe therapy works best when it’s built on trust — and trust takes time. This introductory call is your opportunity to make sure you feel comfortable with ATC, and confident about what to expect going forward.
